A Nagyvölgy-tetői-kilátó Szomolya mellett, a kaptárkövek közelében található, és átfogó panorámát enged a Bükkaljára, valamint a hegységre.

A kilátó

Az egyszerű kialakítású, 6 m magas kőemelvény célja inkább a kaptárkövek felé tartó túrázók figyelmének felhívása a dombtető szép kilátására, mint új szemszög megnyitása a dombhátról. A fedett, korláttal biztosított panorámaterasz külső csigalépcsőn elérhető, alatta szélvédett, apró helyiség az építmény belseje. A kilátóból a Bükkalja dombjainak szelíd íveit, valamint a Bükk és az Alföld síkjának „találkozását" szemlélhetjük. A lankák hátterében a Mátra gerince látszik a hegység két meghatározó hegytömbjével, a Kékessel és a Galya-tetővel.

A kilátó mellett kőből épített tűzrakó helyek, padok és asztalok állnak. Árnyék nincs, a pihenőhely a tűző nap ellen nem nyújt védelmet.

A korábbi, elkorhadt fatorony helyére két, helyi születésű barát építtetett új kilátót 2024-ben. Gyermekkori elképzelésüket valósították meg, azonban egyikük éppen az építkezés vége előtt hunyt el.

A kilátótól a P▲ jelzésen kb. 10 perc sétával érhető el a szomolyai kaptárkövek bemutatóterülete.

  • A buszmegállóból déli irányba indulunk a P jelzésen, majd az első kereszteződésnél jobbra térünk a P▲ jelzésre. A dombtetőn, a villanyvezetéknél a jelzést elhagyva balra térünk a jelzetlen útra, amiről már látszik a kilátó (1,1 km, 49 m szintemelkedés).
