Kékes is the highest peak in Hungary at 1014 meters above sea level. It is a popular destination as a climatic health resort and a ski center. The TV tower here (176 m) erected in 1981 also functions as a lookout tower as well as a snack bar awaits guests at 42 meters.
Besides the stunning view the snack bar displays an 8000-piece mini-bottle collection.
The lower 80 meters of the tower is made of reinforced concrete, the middle 80 meters is a steel structure and the upper 20 meters is a fiber reinforced plastic cylinder. 1300 m3 of concrete and 500 tons of steel was used for the construction.

Directions
- From the bus stop, head west following the Red (P) and Green (Z) markers. Turn left and enter the woods at the sanatorium. Past 200 meters turn right onto the Blue (K) Trail to reach the tower (400 m).
Parking
- The peak is accessible on a paved road. It may be closed in winter due to adverse road conditions. Exit Road 24 in Matraháza as signed.
