Kilátás a kilátóból

A Hegyközt északi oldalról szegélyező, 296 méter magas Gira-hegy tetején álló kilátóból körpanorámát élvezhetünk. Észak felé tekintve a magyar-szlovák határt is jelölő Gira-hegy–Csonkás-hegy–Mátyás-hegy-vonulatot láthatjuk. Kelet felé elnézve a hegyközi síkságot, a Ronyva túlpartján pedig a szlovákai Zempléni-szigethegységet vehetjük szemügyre. Déli irányba fordulva alattunk Vilyvitány fehérlő református templomát és takaros portáit, mögöttük a Hegyköz túlfelén a Tokaji-hegység hegycsoportjait (Fekete-hegyek, Csattantyú-hegy, Sátoros-hegyek, Som-hegy) pillanthatjuk meg. Nyugati irányban kémlelve a tájat a Korom-tető, a Bába-hegy és a Hársas-hegy triójának vonulatai vonzzák a tekintetet.

Hazánk legidősebb felszíni kőzetei

A magyar-szlovák határon húzódó Mátyás-hegy–Csonkás-hegy–Gira-hegy-vonulatban bukkannak elő hazánk legidősebb felszíni kőzetei. A mintegy 900 millió éves, nagyon magas kvarctartalmuk miatt rendkívül kemény, ellenálló metamorf kőzetek (kvarcit, kvarcitpala) nagyobb tömbjeivel elsősorban a Gira-hegy árkainak oldalfalaiban találkozhatunk – a felfelé vezető úton érintünk ilyen vízmosásos szakaszt.

Tanösvények a Gira-hegyen

A Gira-hegyet az Ősrög és Kilátó tanösvények is érintik: a Kilátó tanösvény egy körbevezet a hegyen, és amennyiben felfelé a hosszabb, vízmosásos utat, lefelé pedig a rövidebb, toronyiránti utat választjuk, a teljes tanösvényt bejárhatjuk. Az Ősrög tanösvény Vilyvitánytól egészen Felsőregmecig kalauzolja a kirándulókat, végigjárása során nemcsak hazánk legidősebb felszíni, kb. 900 millió éves kőzeteit figyelhetjük meg, hanem láthatunk kb. 300 millió éves homokkőt, csillámpalát és konglomerátumot, valamint a Tokaji-hegység kialakulásakor keletkezett, kb. 11-14 millió éves riolittufát is.

Directions

Parking

  • Az autót a vilyvitányi polgármesteri hivatalnál lévő parkolóban hagyhatjuk.
  • Ha közelebb akarunk menni a kilátóhoz, a vilyvitányi Ady Endre utca végén is találunk parkolóhelyet.
