The German Wine Route begins in the state-approved tourist village with the German Wine Gate. The winegrowing village has 1500 inhabitants and is the closest neighbor to Wissembourg in Alsace.

In the heart of Europe's wine country lies one of the most popular vacation destinations in the Palatinate and along the Southern Wine Route, visited by many tourists each year. Its particular charm lies in its versatility and closeness to Alsace. With the beginning of the German Wine Route and the Wine Gate, the wine country opens up in all directions. The good wines and the location were already mentioned in the 9th century as prime sites by Charlemagne. Even today, the best wineries and interesting vineyards call this place home. An array of hiking and outdoor activities paired with culinary delights and regional specialties rounds off the offerings. This allows for a blend of diverse interests and activities all in one vacation. Numerous guest rooms in hotels, vacation apartments, and guesthouses provide overnight stays for a vacation in the boundless wine country of Schweigen-Rechtenbach. A vibrant club life combined with a good infrastructure offers Schweigen-Rechtenbach to its residents and guests.

Sights: German Wine Gate, first German wine education trail, historical circular route.
Leisure: Connection to the mountain bike park Palatinate Forest, premium and themed hiking trails, wine tastings, scenic ponds with fishing opportunities, forest sports field, bowling alley.
Festivals: Kerwe on the first weekend in May, midsummer fire at the end of June, "Boundless Wine," the German-French wine event in early July.
Transport connections: B38 (German Wine Route), near Bad Bergzabern train station (7 km), Wissembourg (2 km), bus line Landau-Schweigen-Wissembourg.
