Celtic Prince's Grave and Heath Court, Rodenbach
At "Fuchshübel", a Celtic burial mound was discovered, which was excavated in 1874. Due to the valuable grave goods, it is assumed that the buried individual must have been a significant man. The Celtic grave, dating back to around 400 BC, has since been known as the "Prince's Grave of Rodenbach" and is considered the most important find from the La Tène period north of the Alps.
The excavations uncovered, among other things, iron weapons and bronze vessels. However, the most valuable items were a golden arm bracelet and a golden ring.
All original finds can be seen at the Historical Museum of the Palatinate in Speyer. Replicas of the bracelet and the ring are located, among others, in the Reinhard-Blauth Museum in Weilerbach. Additionally, these pieces of jewelry, along with all other finds, are displayed as replicas in the reconstructed prince's grave at the "Untere Weißlach," right along the hiking trail "Prehistory and Early History."
The prince's grave is freely accessible daily from April to the end of October from 09:00 to 18:00.
