One of the gems in Visegrádi Mountains, and probably the most adventurous marked trail in Hungary. A must-see place for everyone.

Rám Gorge is located between Dömös and Dobogókő in Visegrádi Mountains. The two possible entry points are connected by a 7-km-long trail with around 1 km in the gorge itself. It is one of the most popular hiking destinations of Hungary, where hiking is complemented by adventure: crossing the creek bed many times, using rails and ladders to inch uphill over the volcanic terrain. The steep sides sometimes frightfully tower over the narrow gorge reaching 30 metres. Meltwater and heavy rains cause the creek to swell so keeping feet dry is a little bit of challenge those days.

The narrow gap, waterfalls, plants native to such a chilly and humid habitat, moss-covered rocks and large leaning trees all contribute to this special athmosphere. It is further enhanced after a storm or snowfall making it a true adventure park where hikers may prove their physical skills and sense of balance.

Due to unstable slopes do not attempt to take a shortcut sideways and always follow the creek bed. The large number of visitors at weekends brought forth the rule that the trail along the gorge (Green (Z)) may be hiked in one direction only (uphill). Hiking downhill is allowed along the Yellow (S) trail through Lukács-árok (Luke's Trench).

It is not allowed to enter the gorge in rare exceptional cases. Check weather conditions beforehand.

During your hike stations of Rám Gorge nature trail from Dömös to Dobogókő will present native fauna and flora.
