Dera Creek aka Kovácsi Creek, the longest water flow of Pilis Mountains originates around Pilisszentkereszt and drains into the Danube at Szentendre. The locals with Serbian origin named it “dera” meaning “gap”, which is truly a telltale name. The creek has etched a deep hollow into the limestone running between two steep walls. Moss-covered rocks lie at the bottom shaded by trees growing on the steep slope. In rainless seasons the creek nearly dries out so schedule your visit accordingly.
The trail runs alternately on both sides crossing small bridges. The romantic part of the gorge is around 1 km with little elevation change but an out-and-back hike from the parking lot is well-worth the time.
Both at the parking lot and the upper end of the gorge there are benches and fire pits to allow for a longer stay.
The Blue Trail also passes through the gorge.
