Ha a bakonyi Pulai-erdőt képzeletbeli vonallal összekötjük a Balaton-parti Örvényes határában elterülő őstölgyessel, annak felezőjénél egy ugyancsak matuzsálemi korú fákból álló, hasonló élőhelyre bukkanhatunk a Balaton-felvidék peremén, Vöröstó település mellett. Az állomány látványos példája annak, hogy lehetnek bár egy erdőben 200 éves fák, és a sokféle változóból számolt erdőtermészetesség magas, mégsem érezzük úgy, hogy természetes idős erdőben járunk.
A falu feletti kálváriánál is nekiindulhatunk a horizonton látszó erdőszélnek, végül rátérhetünk a P jelzésű turistaútra. A keszekusza ösvényhálózat és a terebélyes koronájú tölgyek a nem is oly távoli Tési-fennsík peremén húzódó erdőket idézik – bár az ottani élőhelyek kétségkívül üdébb változata fogadja az erdőjárót. A tölgymatuzsálemek itt élesen elkülönülnek a többi korosztálytól, szigeteket képezve a fiatalabb fák tömegében. A lombsátor zárt, ezért a szárazabb termőhelyeken megfigyelhető szerkezeti összetettség, szintezettség itt kevéssé jellemző. Valószínűleg az üdébb termőhelyi viszonyok okozhatják, hogy az idős fák közé betöltődött, egykorú új erdő gátolja a további korosztályok megjelenését, amíg kellően erős bolygatások, például széldöntések, esetleg hótörések nem érik.

- A Vöröstó, faluház megállótól a Fő utcán nyugatra indulunk, 200 métert követően rácsatlakozunk a P jelzésre, ami elvezet a település határában húzódó erdőbe (1,7 km, 57 m szintemelkedés).
