A Nagy-Galla déli oldalán, annak tövében kiterjedt rétet találunk, ami infrastruktúra nélkül is ideális helyszín ahhoz, hogy rákészüljünk az előttünk álló, nehéz kaptatóra.
A Nagy-Galla és a Varjú-hegy közti nyeregben szép rétet találunk, amely egyben a Z+ és a K+ jelzésű turistautak csomópontja is – „muflonugrásnyira" északra pedig a K jelzésű Börzsönyi Kéktúrát is elérhetjük. A tágas réten nem építettek ki pihenőhelyet, nincsenek asztalok és padok sem, de egy hevenyészett tűzrakóhelyet találunk, ami jelzi, hogy ez egy kiváló piknikhelyszín.
Akár az előttünk álló Nagy-Gallára tervezünk fölmászni, akár onnan érkezünk, a meredek, csúszós kaptatóra jobb rákészülni, vagy jól esik utána egy picit lepihenni. Erre ideális hely a rét, ahol nyáron néhány fa árnyékot is ad, télen pedig jó idő esetén fürdőzhetünk a melengető napsütésben. Vizből bőséges mennyiséget vigyünk magunkkal, mert a rét környékén nincsenek források.

- Az Ipolydamásd, Templom buszmegálló szintén lehet túránk kiinduló- vagy végpontja.

- Letkésről a Z+ jelzésű turistaúton érjük el a tisztást (4,6 km, 248 m szintemelkedés).
- Ipolydamásdról elindulva a K+ jelzésű turistaúton érjük el a tisztást (4,9 km, 261 m szintemelkedés).
- Márianosztráról a PL jelzésű turistaúton induljunk el. A kereszteződésben forduljunk jobbra a KL jelzésű ösvényre, majd ismét jobbra a K jelzésű turistaútra. A Nagy-Galla alatti elágazásban forduljunk balra a K+ jelzésű útra (5,3 km, 238 m szintemelkedés).
Parking
- Letkésen a faluközpontban van ingyenes parkoló.
- Az ipolydamásdi vár alatti ingyenes parkolóban is hagyhatjuk az autót.
- Márianosztrán több ingyenes parkolóhelyet is találunk, érdemes a vasútállomás közelében letenni az autót.
