Die gotische Wallfahrtskirche Maria Rast in Langenbach ist ein besonderer Ort für alle, die sich für Geschichte, Kunst und sakrale Architektur interessieren. Die Ursprünge der Wallfahrt reichen bis in die Zeit Ludwigs des Bayern zurück. Der heutige gotische Kirchenbau entstand Mitte bis Ende des 15. Jahrhunderts und bewahrt bis heute zahlreiche kunsthistorisch interessante Details.
Besonders sehenswert sind die zwölf Tafelbilder aus der ersten Hälfte des 17. Jahrhunderts. Auch die Glasfenster erzählen von der Bedeutung des Ortes: In ihnen finden sich die Wappen der Städte Landshut, Moosburg, München, Ingolstadt und Straubing.
Maria Rast war einst ein viel besuchter Wallfahrtsort. Das Gnadenbild der Kirche erlangte durch zahlreiche überlieferte Wundertaten besondere Bekanntheit und machte den Ort über die Region hinaus zu einem Ziel für Pilger. Die Geschichte dieser Wallfahrt verleiht der Kirche bis heute eine besondere Atmosphäre.
Die Wallfahrtskirche liegt in Langenbach und ist mit dem Auto sowie mit dem Fahrrad erreichbar. Aufgrund der historischen Bausubstanz kann die Zugänglichkeit für Menschen mit Mobilitätseinschränkungen teilweise eingeschränkt sein.
Der Besuch lässt sich mit einem Spaziergang durch Langenbach oder einer Fahrradtour durch die umliegende Landschaft verbinden.
