Je to malý, jednoloďový neskororománsky kostol s kvadratickým presbytériom. Architektúra kostola je pomerne jednoduchá. Presbytérium je zaklenuté valenou klenbou. Loď presvetľujú tri vysokopostavené okná so štrbinovými výrezmi. Do kostola sa pôvodne vstupovalo bočným portálom v severnej stene lode. Loď kostola je zaklenutá rovným doskovým stropom.
V r. 1658 bol kostol poškodený požiarom, ale na konci 17. stor. ho opravili. Dostal nový oltár, ktoré je dodnes zachovaný, a vonkajšie fasády kostola boli vyzdobené maľbami s rastlinnými a figurálnymi motívmi a nárožným kvádrovaním. Drevená tribúna, ktorá bola pôvodne na západnom konci lode už nebola obnovená.
Od r. 1796 je kostol oficiálne pútnickým kostolom. Súvisí to najmä s nedaľekým prameňom. Pre potreby pútnikov bol dokonca kostol prestavaný. Pôvodný portál na sev. strane lode bol zamurovaný a nahradený novým vstupom na záp. stene, bola predĺžená strecha, čím vznikla nad novým vstupom otvorená predsieň.
