The collegiate church is the oldest church in the city (consecrated in 1333)
The Protestant parish church is the former church "To Our Lady" of the Augustinian canons. A three-naved Gothic basilica, construction started in 1281; consecrated in 1333, built on the site of an earlier smaller church; tower construction began in 1349. In 1490, a second northern aisle was added, featuring an elaborate late Gothic net vault. The tracery of the nave windows is from 1897, at which time new vaults were introduced. The tympanum at the west portal (tower) has sculptures from 1330 - 1340 depicting scenes from the life of Mary; damaged during the French Revolution. A magnificent baroque organ façade from 1772. Baptismal and wedding chapel (former chapter house) with wall paintings from the time of the church's construction revealed in 1897; valuable examples of high Gothic painting in the Palatinate, restored in the 1960s. During the Reformation, the church was divided by iron grilles: choir for the Augustinian canons and the Catholics, nave and side aisles for Lutherans. From 1650, simultaneous services were held, and in 1893, sole ownership was granted to Protestants. One of the most significant Gothic churches in the Palatinate.
