Auf einer Anhöhe über der Ortschaft Friedlach in der Gemeinde Glanegg steht die dem heiligen Georg geweihte Pfarrkirche zusammen mit dem Pfarrhof.
Die Schlangenkönigin oder wie Friedlach zu seinem Namen kam
Auf der Anhöhe oberhalb des Ortes Friedlach liegt weithin sichtbar die alleinstehende ehemalige Wehrkirche „St. Georg“ mit dem Pfarrhof. Eine Ringmauer bildet ein enges Oval um das Gotteshaus. Von außen wirkt die bis zu 7 Meter hohe Befestigungsmauer noch immer sehr stattlich, doch bildet sie zumeist nur noch die Umkleidung des Hügelplateaus.
Eine traurige Sage ist aus Friedlach überliefert: Einst war das Glantal voll sumpfiger Moorgründe, bewachsen mit wüstem Gestrüpp. Hier vermehrten sich die Schlangen sehr rasch und sie krochen hinauf auf die Anhöhen und drangen in die Häuser ein. Keine Vorratsstube war vor ihnen sicher und als die Schlangen schließlich sogar auf die Tische krochen und aus den Schüsseln der Menschen fraßen, beschlossen die Bewohner diese unwirtliche Gegend zu verlassen. Als alle zum Auswandern bereit waren, kam ein junger Bursche namens Fridelo und versprach Hilfe.
