Die heutige Kirche zeigt zwei Bauphasen und nimmt unter den wenigen evangelischen Kirchen im Schwarzwald eine herausragende Stellung ein. Der spätgotische Chor (von 1504) birgt ein schönes Sakramentshaus mit Seccomalereien sowie einen Taufstein aus jener Zeit. Die Chorfenster (von 1955) gleichen einer aufgeschlagenen Bibel.
Bemerkenswert sind auch die Stuckverzierungen an der Kanzel mit den Gleichnissen vom Weinstock und vom guten Hirten und die markante Deckenuhr. Als Wahrzeichen Gutachs gilt der Zwiebelturm von 1781. An der Außenseite der Kirche erinnern Gedenktafeln an verschiedene Gutacher Persönlichkeiten.
