GR57 - Great Route of the Ria de Aveiro: Blue Route
Around the main channel of the Ria de Aveiro, crossing the territory of the municipalities of Ovar, Murtosa, Estarreja, Aveiro, Ílhavo, Vagos, and partially Albergaria-a-Velha. With a duration of six days, the Blue Route starts and ends at the Canal de São Roque.
The GR57 is one of the three main routes of the Ria de Aveiro. Designed along its banks, this blue route covers about 131 km, through paths as diverse as the landscapes and biotopes of a unique lagoon ecosystem in Portugal. From the salt marsh areas to the “Bocage” habitat, from pine forests planted on dune ridges that hold back the ocean to cultivated fields that have coexisted with the Ria for several centuries, this route reveals the diversity and richness of the relationships that humans establish with the natural world. This route connects with the GR11-E9 - Atlantic Path.
