The Salzgitter Tourism Association, together with Prof. Gerd Winner (d. 2026) as curator, took up the idea of creating a section of the "Road of Peace" art project in Salzgitter-Bad.

Accompanied by Karl Kalktropfen, the 2.5 km long thematic path leads through an impressive 250 million years of Earth's history. A total of eight stations explain the connection between the formation of the Teutoburg Forest and the travertine terraces. Additionally, we learn which animals and plants are bound to this special habitat. Participation is required: By trying out the active elements or solving the tasks, Earth's history becomes tangible.

A family-friendly route of about 8 km (loop trail), mainly along forest and forest management trails in the scenic preservation area (sturdy shoes are recommended).
