Blatnica je stará obec nachádzajúca sa v Turčianskej kotline spomínaná už v roku 1230. Vznikla pod Blatnickým hradom, ktorého ruiny nájdete v Gaderskej doline.
Obec Blatnica má do 1000 obyvateľov. Nachádza sa v tesnej blízkosti Gaderskej a Blatnickej doliny – najkrajších dolín Veľkej Fatry. Unikátna flóra a rôznorodé skalné útvary udivujú návštevníkov týchto dolín.
Z Blatnice vedú turistické trasy na najvyššie doliny Veľkej Fatry – Ostredok, Krížna, Kráľova studňa atd. Krásne sú skalné útvary pri výstupe na Ostrú s prechodom na Tlstú s jaskyňou Mažarná. Rozsiahla sieť ciest umožňuje cykloturistiku s rôznym stupňom obťažnosti.
