Mit der Bahn: Von Wien, Linz und Graz zum Bahnhof Windischgarsten.
Am südwestlichen Rande des Nationalpark Kalkalpen liegt die Pyhrnbahn. Sie führt von Linz nach Selzthal und stellt eine wichtige Nord-Süd-Achse dar. Für Nationalparkbesucher:innen relevante Bahnhöfe gibt es in Klaus, Steyrling, Hinterstoder, Roßleithen und Windischgarsten. Mittlerweile verkehren mit wenigen Ausnahmen stündlich Eilzüge zwischen Linz und Spital am Pyhrn bzw. Selzthal. Dieser dichte Eilzugtakt wird zusätzlich von vier Intercityverbindungen zwischen Graz und Linz mit Halt in Windischgarsten verstärkt.

Linz, Salzburg: Autobahn A1 bis Voralpenkreuz - wechseln auf Pyhrnautbahn A9 Richtung Graz bis Abfahrt Roßleithen/Windischgarsten - 4580 Windischgarsten Ortsmitte - über Hengstpass Landesstraße nach 4581 Rosenau am Hengstpass - der L550 weiter zum Parkplatz Zickerreith folgen. Parkplatz liegt gegenüber der Almwirtschaft.
Wien: Autobahn A1 bis Abfahrt "Amstetten-West" - B121 folgen nach 3335 Weyer - nach Weyer rechts abbiegen, B115 nach 8934 Altenmarkt bei St. Gallen Ortsmitte - Ennsbrücke queren und der Hengstpass Landesstraße L550 Richtung nach Unterlaussa folgen - Auffahrt von Unterlaussa zur Hengstpass Passhöhe - 300 Meter weiter talwärts liegt linkerhand der Parkplatz Zickerreith.
Von Graz: Autobahn A9 bis Abfahrt "Trieben" - über L713 nach 8911 Admont - weiter über die B117 bis 8934 Altenmarkt bei St. Gallen Ortsmitte - Ennsbrücke queren und der Hengstpass Landesstraße L550 Richtung nach Unterlaussa folgen - Auffahrt von Unterlaussa zur Hengstpass Passhöhe - 300 Meter weiter talwärts liegt linkerhand der Parkplatz Zickerreith.
