Stubenberg-Haus
Der Schöckl (1.445m) erhebt sich rund 1.100m über der Landeshauptstadt Graz und gilt als der Grazer Hausberg schlechthin. Er bietet mit seiner Weitläufigkeit viele Freizeitmöglichkeiten, aufgrund seines Waldreichtums weist er zudem ideale Voraussetzungen als Naherholungsgebiet auf. Der aus Kalkgestein aufgebaute, freistehende Berg erhebt sich direkt am Alpenrand und hält ein hervorragendes Panorama über weite Teile des südöstlichen Österreichs und der benachbarten Gebiete bereit.
1872 baute der Steirische Gebirgsverein (St.G.V.) das erste Schutzhaus auf der Jahnwiese. Bald darauf beschloss der Verein den Bau eines neuen, geräumigeren Schutzhauses. Dieses wurde, nach einem Grundtausch mit Graf Stubenberg am 14.09.1890 auf der Südseite des Gipfels, von Graz aus sichtbar, errichtet und eröffnet. Diese Lage war Voraussetzung für die finanzielle Beteiligung der Stadt Graz. Zum 100-Jahr Jubiläum (1990) wurde das Stubenberghaus als erstes ÖAV-Schutzhaus (nach der Berliner Hütte als zweites Schutzhaus in Österreich) unter Denkmalschutz gestellt. 2000/01 erfolgte unter Beteiligung zahlreicher Sponsoren die komplette Sanierung. 2015 feierte sie Sektion Graz das 125-Jahr-Jubiläum des Wahrzeichens auf dem Schöckl und veröffentlichte zu diesem Anlass auch eine instruktive Festschrift. 2019 wurde das Dach saniert und mit Holzschindeln neu eingedeckt.
Das Haus eignet sich aufgrund der Lage und Ausstattung hervorragend für Seminare, Feste oder Jubiläumsfeiern. Näheres auf der hütteneigenen Homepage oder beim Hüttenwirt.
Der Zugang zum Stubenberghaus sowie die Wege zum Hauptgipfel und zum Ostgipfel sind barierrefrei angelegt.
