Erbaut Ende der 60er Jahre des vorigen Jahrhunderts über dem vor über 150 Jahren beim Abbau im Steinbruch endeckten Höhlensystem der geführt begehbaren „Eisensteinhöhle“, steht die niedrigste Schutzhütte des Österreichischen Alpenereins, das „Haus Eisenstein“ im Schutz der heute verwachsenen Steinbruchwände unter der natürlichen Beschattung hoher Föhren. Die Steinwände schützen vor der Nordwestwetterlage und die Föhren sorgen an heißen Sommertagen für ein angenehmes Klima im Gastgarten.
Mit der eher klein gehaltenen, eher schutzhüttentypischen Speisekarte, bewahren wir uns die Möglichkeit der Abwechslung, was auch häufigeren Besuchern die Chance bietet, nicht immer das gleiche Angebot vorzufinden.
