Bremstein and Mitterkogel (also »Feuerstein«) lie in front of the main mass of the Seckau Alps – and although they form a lower ridge, the view is remarkable! Our route leads through the Freudental along forest roads and narrow paths through wooded areas and, in the upper section, over open pastures with scattered dwarf pine stands first to the large summit cross on Bremstein. From there we see the core area of the Seckau Alps and the Palten-Liesing Valley with the Eisenerz Alps beyond. Then we ascend gently vegetated slopes to the Mitterkogel. When we are back in the Freudental, we cross on an unmarked hunting trail to the Upper Bodenalm in the Weinmeisterboden and from there start the return to the starting point.

A signpost soon directs us right to »Bremstein«, where we leave the road leading to a stately hunting lodge, 1709 m, and climb over wide alpine meadows in a direct line to the dwarf pine zone; on the right stands a stone hut surrounded by a fence, which we will pass when descending. We reach the ridge at a signpost and ascend left through the dwarf pines to the fine summit plateau of Bremstein, 1868 m; large summit cross and fantastic panorama, deep view into the Palten-Liesing Valley, magnificent views of the Reichenstein group and the Seckau Alps as well as the Reiting!
