Hiking at the glacial lake Trübsee

The Trübsee, which originated from a glacier, is certainly one of the most impressive sights in the region. Here you can not only enjoy a great view but also start a wonderful hike. For example, a geological nature trail leads from the lake to Stand. On the 3.2 km long route, you will learn a lot about the geology of your surroundings through information boards. About 2 hours should be planned for this hike. The Trübsee can be easily reached by cable car. Alternatively, you can also hike up. The starting point of the tour is Engelberg. From here, you head to Untertrübsee and then further to Obertrübsee. There you can hike to the Trübsee on the alpine flower trail.

Want to hike even further from here? No problem, southwest of the lake is the Engstlenalp, which is famous for its natural beauty.

Alpine Cheese Trail - the hiking tour for gourmets

Cheese lovers can follow the Alpine cheese trail over 49 km to seven different dairies. The route can be completed in several stages. Tastings are of course part of the program. You can start this tour in Engelberg. Along the way, well-marked hiking trails will guide you past breathtaking scenery. You need good sure-footedness for this route.

The Härzlisee with children - adventure trail for the senses

Northeast of Engelberg is the Härzlisee, which can be comfortably reached by cable car. Here you will find places to stop for a snack and you can hike on a very special adventure trail - the Kitzelpfad. Although it is only 220 m long, it provides thrills through various surfaces on which you must walk barefoot.

Climbing Instead of Hiking

If you don't want to hike but would rather climb, you should head, for example, to the climbing routes at Rigidalstock, Brunnistöckli, or Zittergrat. Only the Rigidalstock is suitable for beginners. If climbing is not for you either, then just take a look at the waterfalls in the region. These include:

    Ich habe die Wanderung heute in der umgekehrten Richtung gemacht, da ich lieber hoch statt runter gehe. Ich würde die Wanderung auch so empfehlen, da sie besonders gegen Ende des Abstiegs viel lockeres Gestein hat, dass das Ausrutschen stark begünstigt. Beim hoch gehen, ist dies ein kleineres Problem. Wenn man am Morgen startet, so sind alle Anstiege schön im kühlen Schatten. Die Aussicht ist herrlich und die Wege sind sehr abwechslungsreich. Oben angekommen, gibt es ein sehr gutes Restaurant (Qualität der Gerichte ist hervorragend). Dann mit der Bergbahn hinunter (auch ein Spektakel, hat man nach dem letzten Masten doch das Gefühl des freien Falls) und dann gemütlich mit dem Bus zurück nach Engelberg. Ich benötigte für die umgekehrte Strecke 3 Std. und bin recht gemütlich gegangen.
