* The name Dunacsún (Čunovo) is often written as Dunacsúny. Here we use the spelling from Google Earth.
I only started recording the route on the way there at the dam with the GPS app. On the way back, I recorded the route all the way to Rajka, but we took the same way there.
It is not really possible to stop and take pictures around the dam(s). On the opposite side of the road from the gallery, there is free parking.
First, we visited the Danubiana modern art gallery, which lies in a very beautiful environment. It is definitely worth the 10 (5 for pensioners 🙂) euro entrance fee. From the windows and the rooftop terrace, there is a view of the reservoir. The exhibited artworks are also interesting.
It is worth allowing time for a walk in the gallery park. From the tip of the island (and from the rooftop terrace), you can see Bratislava Castle, the Bratislava TV Tower, Devín Hill, and the chimneys of the Slovnaft oil refinery.
Of course, my phone recorded only approximate coordinates in the gallery, so it looks as if we walked in the water as well. 🙂
After the gallery, we drove along the reservoir dam. Unfortunately, the public road runs at the base of the dam, so there is no view anywhere. The Dunakiliti dam appeared for a moment. You cannot stop there either, only at a few dirt roads turning to the right.
We went as far as the Bodza Restaurant in Doborgaz, where we turned back.
