Viewpoint in Salzgitter

When the smelter was built, a power plant was planned to supply it with energy. The power plant is located 8 meters above the level of the smelter site.

It's worth taking a look at the Salzgitter ore processing plant. In the foreground are the tracks leading toward the smelter (incoming) and toward the "Hütte Süd" marshalling yard.

During the construction of the cabin, the site required for the industrial buildings was leveled and graded.

From this vantage point, the viewer has a very good view of the hut's silhouette.

Iron ore was mined at the now-closed Finkenkuhle open-pit mine until 1956.
