A lovely varied route – some great views of mountains and countryside, and lots of butterflies and wildflowers in June. The route starts with the path to the Forte Montecchio Nord, continues through woodland and a rustic village before becoming a rockier trail. The path that cut through the horse ranch/farmyard was blocked off, but there was an easy diversion with just ~10 min extra walking (a bit of a longer loop) to join the wide gravel path that runs alongside the River Adda. This path led to the beautiful Spiaggia Selvaggia, a quiet beach area on the shore of Lake Como, and continued around the shore of the lake on a paved path back to where the route started.

Loved the route and the Via Ferrata but I think the description is a little misleading. I think if you're anything like us stumpy Brits (e.g. not tall lean Italian, French or German mountaineers), then add a couple of hours on. For reference we both have a lot of walking and big-wall climbing experience in European mountains and it took us nearer 7 hours. I've grown accustomed to adding 10% on to routes in Europe! Beautiful walk through the woods but this comprised c.90% of the route and was often steep and loose. The compulsory Via Ferrata sections were probably 20 meters and 60 meters respectively, so more like 2% of the total route. I would also recommend: I) continuing off the summit toward the cave that reads "io non posso entrare ... e bevo nella ciotola" and continuing straight towards a beautiful beech tree (Fagus sylvatica) ridge with stunning views of snow-capped mountains, you'll have to turn back to the cave and take the path that leads steeply downhill from the entrance to stay on route; and II) bringing poles (which we didn't have) to help with the relentless steep downhill! enjoy!
