Eggental

Those who love impressive landscapes and enjoy being active outdoors should simply know or get to know it: the South Tyrolean Eggental, which, with its seven villages, lies in the middle of the UNESCO World Heritage Dolomites and, framed by the Rosengarten and Latemar, offers the ideal backdrop for extensive hikes and bike tours.

Outdoor adventures for the whole year

Hiking and climbing in the Eggental

Those who climb in the Eggental find numerous challenges. The legendary Delago Edge in the Rosengarten, rated 4+, is one of the most popular climbing destinations in the entire Alpine region. And in the immediate vicinity, many other breathtaking routes beckon. Or how about one of the five secured via ferratas, for example at the Santner Pass or on the „Campanili del Latemar“? Beginners gather their first experiences in the climbing garden at Karersee and are instructed in the basic safety techniques by experts.

Mountain biking in the Eggental

Especially many hours of sunshine, an almost 600 km long mountain bike trail network, and the impressive panorama of Rosengarten, Latemar, and Schlern make the Eggental a preferred destination for bikers. The season for two-wheel fans starts at Easter and lasts until early November – plenty of time for beautiful mountain bike tours! Blooming alpine meadows, high forests, and deep valleys characterize the landscape in the Eggental. Over 30 huts and alpine farms provide for physical well-being. Whether beginners, leisure bikers, families, e-bikers, or freeride experts: here there is the right tour for everyone!

And in winter?

According to legend, the dwarf king Laurin had an underground crystal palace built in the rose garden. And anyone who has visited the Eggental in winter does not have to wonder for long where this legend comes from. Because the winter Dolomite landscape appears like a gigantic palace, in which millions of snow crystals sparkle in the sun.

The ski areas Obereggen and Carezza, both members of the world's largest ski association „Dolomiti Superski“, offer the best piste conditions on a total of 90 km. Those who prefer to take it a bit more quietly will find numerous cross-country ski trails and winter hiking paths. A special experience is also the Christmas market at Lake Karer, where South Tyrolean craftsmanship and typical delicacies are offered. Numerous wood stoves provide warmth and spread romance with their crackling fires. In addition, visitors can expect bizarre snow sculptures as well as a life-sized crib.

The ride was done on a beautiful day, offering the opportunity to enjoy beautiful landscapes. It's a technical and challenging track, not to be underestimated. I think it'll be a contender for my best ride of the year.
