The best-known sights include Rurich Castle, an impressive Renaissance palace with a long history, and Gangelt Wildlife Park, where you can experience local animals up close. The Kommern open-air museum also offers an insight into the life of times gone by.

For culture enthusiasts, a visit to the Heinsberg Theatre or the Kunsthaus NRW in Kornelimünster is worthwhile. Exhibitions and events are held here regularly.

Culinary delights are also on offer in this region: Be sure to try the famous potato pancakes or enjoy fresh bread from the regional baker. The numerous breweries are also worth a visit!

If you like to be active, you will find ideal conditions here for outdoor activities such as hiking or cycling. In spring, the fruit trees in the meadows are in full bloom - a fantastic natural spectacle! In summer, the natural lake Effelder Waldsee invites you to swim. And if you come in autumn, you can relax on a hike through colourful deciduous forests.

But even if it rains, there is plenty to experience in Wegberg and Heinsberg. For example, visit the museum in the town of Erkelenz or take a guided tour through the historic old town of Wassenberg.

Overall, this region is definitely worth a trip! Whether for a weekend getaway or a longer holiday - everyone will find something to their liking here. Let our Travel Guide inspire you and discover the beauty of Wegberg and Heinsberg for yourself!
