The procession begins after the Holy Mass in front of the chapel square and passes by two beautifully decorated roadside crosses, the wayside shrine, and the hail cross. The end of the procession is again at the chapel square.
2026 Holtum Octave June 28 to July 5
The octave is celebrated for a whole week. A procession follows the closing service, during which the Black Madonna is carried by the citizens of Holtum. The last service always takes place at 10:00 AM on the last Sunday. The entire route is accompanied by the priest with prayer, singing, a music band, and the marksmen. Food and drink are provided throughout the week in the pilgrim home (good and plentiful), toilets available. As everywhere, the Holtum Octave thrives thanks to many volunteers who dedicate themselves to it. The two roadside crosses are cared for throughout the year, and many hands work diligently during the octave week to make the entire village so lovingly decorated. Even for guests arriving by car, a meadow is provided as a parking lot.
Next year, we warmly invite all children to accompany the procession as flower children.
