Wallerfangen is located on the edge of the Saar-Hunsrück Nature Park and thus offers many opportunities for outdoor activities such as hiking or cycling. In summer, you can visit the outdoor swimming pool or refresh yourself at one of the many lakes in the area. In Saarlouis, on the other hand, you will find the largest outlet centre in Europe as well as numerous museums and historic buildings dating back to the 17th century.

Sights relevant to tourism include the Vauban fortifications, which are a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as well as Fellenberg Castle with its magnificent gardens.

Cultural highlights can also be discovered: The Theater am Ring is a popular venue for concerts, operas and ballet performances. The annual jazz festival also attracts many visitors.

For culinary delights, regional specialities such as dibbelabbes (a potato dish) or Lyon sausage are a must-try! If it rains, we recommend a visit to the Museum Haus Ludwig for art exhibitions or to the Achteinhalb cinema for films of all kinds.

    Uns hat die Wanderung sehr gut gefallen. Als Premiumwanderweg ist sie sicherlich nicht besonders spektakulär und auch der Bodenbelag hat nur einen kleinen Anteil von Pfaden. Die weite Sicht und die Ruhe sind aber Pluspunkte. Im Frühjahr ist der Weg über offene Landschaften aber ideal, den die Obstbäume und Rapsfelder blühen.

    Heute bei herrlichem Sonnenschein den Weg gemacht. Direkt am Anfang schon sehr matschig und nach 1 km Hinweisschild umgefallen, deshalb haben wir uns erst mal verlaufen. Der Anstieg zur Burg knackig! Leider viele umgefallene Bäume, was schon 2024 festgestellt wurde. Und: die restliche knapp 4 km z.T. haben wildschweine den Weg umgegraben, über die cpl durchmatschten und zerstörten Wiesen gelaufen, sehr schade! Und: was ein Vorkommentator schon festgestellt hat: wenig Bänke, Tische schon gar nicht, mit Ausnahme auf der Teufelsburg

    sehr schöne abwechslungsreiche Tour. Leider ist der Radweg an der Saar teilweise seit 1 Jahr gesperrt. Gefahren mit E-Bike und Bio-Bike. Mit Bio-Bike zu fahren sollte man schon trainiert sein, wegen der Steigungen.

    Die Tour war Klasse. Ganz viel Pfad, mal durch wilden Akazienwald, mal an Wald- und Wiesenrändern entlang. Der Aufstieg zur Burg hat es in sich, dafür hat man von dort eine tolle Aussicht. Gastronomie gibt es zur Zeit allerdings nicht am Weg. Die Gaststätte am Flughafen hat keinen Pächter. Hatte Glück, dass das Bistro von den Fallschirmspringern offen hatte.

    Der erste Teil der Wanderung ist nicht so gut beschildert und läuft nicht so richtig. Ab der Stelle wo die Wanderung „Der Giesinger“ beginnt fängt es an Spaß zu machen. Die Wanderung verläuft nicht viel auf dem gleichen Weg, aber ab da ist sie gut ausgeschildert. Wer Ruhe, Natur und Tiere liebt ist auf dieser Wanderung gut aufgehoben. Es ist zwar keine „Eventwanderung“ aber die kleinen Dinge am Wegesrand sind liebevoll gestaltet. Der Weg verläuft abwechslungsreich von Waldwirtschaftsweg, Sand, schmale Pfade über steile Treppen alles dabei.
