Sonnefeld is a municipality in the north of Bavaria with an area of about 27 square kilometres and is located at the foot of the Thuringian Forest. The special geographical location of the region makes it an ideal starting point for hiking or cycling tours through the picturesque surrounding countryside. Winter sports enthusiasts also get their money's worth here - because in the winter months the landscape is transformed into a snowy paradise.

One of the most important sights is Sonnefeld Castle from the 17th century, which is now used as the town hall. Another highlight is the historic town centre with its well-preserved half-timbered houses from the 18th century.

Culture enthusiasts should definitely plan a visit to the Alte Mühle museum - here regional art treasures are presented as well as changing exhibitions of modern art.

Throughout the year, numerous events take place: In summer, the traditional folk festival attracts visitors with rides and live music; in autumn, there is the popular Kirtag (Kirchweih) with regional specialities such as grilled bratwurst or freshly tapped beer; during Advent, Christmas markets provide a festive atmosphere.

Sunfeld also has a lot to offer in the way of culinary delights: The region is known for its hearty cuisine with Schäufele, bratwurst and fresh bread from the local bakery. Those who prefer sweet things should definitely try the famous Coburger dumplings - a local speciality made from potatoes and flour.

For outdoor enthusiasts, there are numerous opportunities for active leisure activities. In summer, you can hike through the green meadows on the well-marked hiking trails or explore the surrounding countryside by bike. In winter, ski resorts such as the Ochsenkopf or the Fichtelgebirge attract skiers and snowboarders.

If it rains, you can visit the indoor swimming pool or one of the many museums in the area.

Where is the most beautiful place in Sonnefeld? There is no general answer to this question - because every place has its own charm! A walk through the historic centre of Sonnefeld will take you back to the 18th century; on the other hand, if you want to enjoy a breathtaking view, you should definitely climb to the top of the Staffelberg.

Sonnefeld is definitely worth a trip! This Travel Guide has provided you with all the important information about this charming destination in the district of Coburg. We wish you a pleasant stay and lots of fun discovering this picturesque region of Bavaria!
