Topically relevant sights include the Historisch-Technisches Museum, which tells the story of rocket development, and the "HMS Otus" submarine museum. Here you can experience at first hand what it was like to live and work under water. Another highlight is the lighthouse at Peenemünde harbour - from here you have a breathtaking view of the Baltic Sea.
Cultural highlights can be found especially in the summer months: The "Usedom Music Festival" attracts numerous visitors every year to enjoy classical concerts or bob along to jazz concerts. There are also regular art exhibitions and theatre performances in the Kulturhaus.
For gourmets, Peenemünde offers culinary specialities such as fresh fish straight from the fishing boat or traditional North German dishes such as labskaus (a type of stew) or matjesfilet (a typical herring dish).
The best outdoor activities are found in the summer months. The Baltic Sea invites you to swim and sunbathe, while cycling tours along the coast or through the forests of Usedom offer a nice way to explore the landscape. Water sports enthusiasts can try their hand at sailing or surfing.
If it rains, there are also indoor activities such as visiting the museum or taking a guided tour of the "HMS Otus" submarine museum.
The most beautiful thing about Peenemünde, however, is its location right by the sea - here you can relax and listen to the sound of the waves. Whether you are a family, couple or travelling alone - Peenemünde is definitely worth a visit!
