Around the Peene

The historic old town offers sights such as the "Kaffemühle" museum, St. Petri Church, and the Philipp Otto Runge House. The animal park and the Amazon Bridge, a drawbridge over the Peene, are also worth a visit. The route takes you from Wolgast via the town of Kröslin to the fishing village of Freest. In the local history museum, you embark on a brief journey through time. The most famous exhibits are the Freest fish tapestries. Made by locals, each tapestry tells its own unique story. In Freest, you can choose to cross the water and take a small passenger ferry to Peenemünde on the island of Usedom. Here you can discover many sights. The Historical-Technical Museum, the U-boat in the harbor, and the Phänomenta Peenemünde invite you to explore. Directly along the Peene River, it goes to Karlshagen Marina. From there, via the Lake Cycle Route to Zecherin and back to Wolgast.
