Cultural highlights and events: The annual Kirsch Festival in Apolda is one of the largest folk festivals in Thuringia and attracts thousands of visitors every year. During the festival there are many concerts, parades as well as culinary specialities to enjoy.

Culinary specialities: In Oettern you can try traditional dishes from the region such as the famous Thuringian dumpling or the hearty bratwurst. The regional art of brewing is also very strong here, so you should definitely try a freshly tapped beer from the area.

What to do when it rains: If the weather doesn't cooperate, we recommend a visit to the Apolda City Museum or the Avantgarde Art House in Weimar. Here you can learn about the history and culture of the region as well as admire contemporary works of art.
