The geographical location of Oberau is unique. The village is located at the foot of the Zugspitze, Germany's highest mountain, and is surrounded by a breathtaking landscape of mountains, forests and lakes. The region is perfect for outdoor activities such as hiking, cycling or skiing.

Tourist attractions include the St. Peter and Paul Church with its magnificent ceiling paintings and the Linderhof Castle of the Bavarian King Ludwig II, which is considered one of the most beautiful castles in Europe.

Cultural highlights are above all the traditional festivals such as the annual Oktoberfest or the Almabtrieb festival in autumn. Classical music concerts are also held regularly.

For culinary delights, we recommend trying typical Bavarian specialities such as Weißwurst breakfasts or pork knuckles in the local inns. There are also many farms in the area where you can buy fresh fruit and vegetables.

In summer, hikes through the mountains are a great option - a tour to the Eibsee lake with its crystal-clear water is particularly rewarding. In winter, on the other hand, the nearby skiing area of Garmisch-Partenkirchen beckons with its numerous slopes and cross-country ski runs.

If the weather should not cooperate, there are also indoor activities in Oberau, such as a visit to the local museum or a round of bowling.

Where is the most beautiful place in Oberau? It's hard to say, as the landscape around Oberau is simply breathtaking. However, one highlight is definitely the many lakes, which invite you to swim and relax - these include the Staffelsee and the Walchensee.

Overall, Oberau offers something for every taste as a destination: nature lovers get their money's worth on hikes through the mountains, those interested in culture can visit historical sights and gourmets can look forward to culinary delights. We hope that our travel tips for a successful stay in Oberau were helpful to you!
