Leisure time on the Lower Rhine
If you want to experience all three themes in one day, the best way to explore the town is by bike. The varied tour Kloster, Kohle, Campus - Industriekultur am Niederrhein provides a comprehensive overview of Kamp-Lintfort and takes you past the former Friedrich Heinrich mine, to the Kamp monastery and out into the countryside through the forest and lots of Lower Rhine nature.
Kloster – Kohle – Campus
Kohle - Fans of industrial heritage will get their money's worth at the Friedrich Heinrich old settlement, one of the largest colliery colonies in the Rhenish-Westphalian industrial area. Over 100 years of mining tradition can be experienced live here: On a guided tour through the old estate or in the Haus des Bergmanns museum, located in the heart of the old estate, the memory of the life of a miner's family is kept alive in an exemplary way. You can visit a compact exhibition on mining tradition and the town's history in the Infozentrum Stadt und Bergbau, where the tourist information centre is also located.
Campus - In addition to its interdisciplinary and internationally oriented degree programmes, Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences offers a wide range of courses for interested non-students, including the Studium Generale and the Children's University. The modern campus is centrally located between the city centre and the Friedrich Heinrich Colliery Park.
