Abtswind

Abtswind is a picturesque wine village at the foot of the Steigerwald and is located about 30 kilometres south of Würzburg. It is known for its excellent vineyards and the annual wine festival in August. The scenic beauty of the region attracts visitors from all over the world.

The tourist-relevant sights are the parish church of St. John the Baptist and the former Abtswind monastery with its impressive architecture. The museum "Alte Synagoge" (Old Synagogue) provides insights into the history of the Jews in Abtswind and the surrounding area.

Abtswind is worth a visit at any time of year, but it is particularly beautiful in spring when the vineyards blossom or in autumn when the leaves turn into bright colours. Hikes through the Steigerwald or along the banks of the Main are particularly recommended.
