Accompanied by the scent of blossoms and bird song, the route initially leads through vineyards and then dips onto natural and gravel paths into the forest, where it rises steeply at times on hollow ways. Every turn holds a different surprise: animal enclosure, old beeches, quarries for reed sandstone, exciting views, vineyard huts with information about viticulture and the unique “Frankenblick”.

    Author’s recommendation

Winged altar, stately houses made of reed sandstone, solar heated outdoor pool, herb museum

Refreshments: "Weingut Behringer" (small snacks and wine) as well as other restaurants in Abtswind

Collecting stamps and pins made easy:

All TraumRunden have stamp stations, one on each route.

Now you can prove that you have indeed hiked all TraumRunden - with 5 stamps you already get the silver TraumRunden badge and with 15 collected stamps, of course, the gold one, including a certificate.

And what works with a stamp pass is also possible digitally – with the digital hiking pin via the SummitLynx app.

Here you collect pins and earn points. Already at 120 collected goals, you receive the digital silver hiking pin as recognition of hiking enthusiasm and endurance. But why stop at silver? When another 325 points have been achieved, the gold pin awaits.

All information about the digital hiking pin and the TraumRunden stamp passes (order) at www.wanderglueck-kitzingerland.de.

    Our tip:

Keep your eyes open between the parking lot and the animal enclosure.

    Safety information

Usage of hiking trails in the forest is at your own risk. (Art. 13 para. 2 sentence 1 BayWaldG or § 60 BNatSchG).

Sufficient sun protection is important, so please bring sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses.

And for bad weather - pack rain- and windproof clothing for layering.

There is not always a possibility to rest or eat along the way, so please bring enough water and provisions for safety.

There are insects and unfortunately also ticks; it is advisable to wear long clothing or pack insect repellent. Also consider a booster for the TBE vaccination. The district of Kitzingen is a TBE risk area. More information about why sufficient protection against ticks is important and how to prepare can be found on the website of the Robert Koch Institute (RKI).

The TraumRunden partly run on narrow forest paths and on inclining terrain. Therefore, the paths are not suitable for strollers and walkers. We ask for your understanding.

    Roadbook

Starting at the parking lot Hasenberg (1) southeast of Abtswind, the path leads between vineyards and the forest edge with beautiful views to the north. A detour to the right into the forest opens up after about 150 meters a quarry (2) of Abtswind reed sandstone, which was preferred by Balthasar Neumann for construction, among other things for the Würzburg Residence.

Past meadows and ponds, the path reaches the Behringer Winery with an animal enclosure (3). Afterwards, the trail leads into the shady forest with diverse flora and fauna. Through mixed forest with some very old beeches, it goes slowly uphill. At the roadside, a wayside shrine (4) surprises, which commemorates an accident with a wooden cart. The high path leads up to the Friedrichsberg (5), past clearings with lush flowering plants and butterflies.

After passing through a last part of the forest, the “Frankenblick” (6) marks another highlight of the hike. Upon arrival, a seating area with a fantastic view invites to rest. In clear weather, the view extends from Schwanberg to the Rhön. Then it goes downhill along the wine teaching path (7). Some shelters with further information about viticulture lie along the way before reaching the starting point Hasenberg (1).
