When spring awakens at the latest, the Tannheim Valley becomes a cycling and hiking paradise. The valley is known as a first-class racing bike area and offers the Tannheim Valley RAD-MARATHON and the associated preparation weeks under the direction of former professionals Marcel Wüst and Gerrit Glomser, the valley also offers first-class racing bike events that are very popular.
What is special at any time of year is the way in which the people here cultivate their traditions and share them with their guests. The many traditional eventsin the valley offer guests the opportunity to learn more about local life and customs and to make a few acquaintances.
Life is good in the Tannheim Valley and so it is not surprising that more and more people are using the valley for a workation or moving their office here for a longer period of time. The numerous offers, which are tailored to the needs of this new group of guests, contribute to this development.
Hiking on three levels in the Tannheim Valley
It's not just the fascinating nature and breathtaking scenery of the region that impress young and old, but also over 300 kilometers of different hiking trails on three levels that make the Tannheim Valley something very special.
The lowest level of the hiking routes in the Tannheim Valley is ideal for relaxed trips and walks from village to village or along the shores of picturesque lakes. Perfect for easy activities with children or simply to relax and unwind.
The second level on the mountain invites young and old to explore exciting themed trails and easy hiking routes without long ascents, as well as eventful high-altitude and panoramic trails. The paths and trails are usually easy to reach by cable car, making them ideal for beginners to pros.
On the third level, things get a little more sporty: challenging routes, long-distance hiking trails in the high alpine mountains and three via ferratas with different levels of difficulty await border crossers and real mountain experts.
Over gravel and trails with mountain and gravel bikes
Von Frühling bis Herbst wird das Tannheimer Tal zum ultimativen Fahrrad-Paradies. Insbesondere für Rennrad-Enthusiasten gehört das Tannheimer Tal zu den absoluten Top-Adressen in den Alpen. Die zentrale Lage des Tannheimer Tals ermöglicht ausgedehnte Touren in Richtung Allgäuer Alpen, Lechtaler Alpen und bis zum Arlberg. Die lange und gut ausgebaute Talstraße führt Rennradfahrer entlang idyllischer Bergdörfer und malerischer Bergwiesen. Der Höhepunkt der Saison ist der RAD-MARATHON Anfang Juli. Doch auch mit dem immer beliebter werdenden Gravel-Bike lässt sich das Tannheimer Tal bestens erkunden. Gravel-Touren wie die Umrundung des Tannheimer Tals kombinieren Forstwege, Straßenabschnitte und einfache Trails in perfekter Art und Weise!

Do you prefer to ride your bike off the beaten track? Then take a look at the mountain bike and gravel bike routes on offer. Wonderful gravel paths alternate with flowing trails. You will be provided with food and drink at the huts and can enjoy the view of the valley after a strenuous climb. This is what biking should be like!
The choice is huge, especially for gravel bikes. The extensive network of forest and gravel roads makes long rides into the furthest corners of the Tannheim Valley possible. One highlight is the gravel bike route around the Tannheim Valley, which puts your fitness to the test with more than 1600 meters of altitude.

Summer cable cars included
There are three cable cars active in the summer in the Tannheim Valley: the gondolas in Tannheim and Grän and the chairlift in Schattwald. With their help, hikes can be started right at the top with a wonderful view and the strenuous ascent or descent is no longer necessary - a great offer, especially for families!
Good to know: Overnight guests staying at participating establishments can use the cable car once per overnight stay free of charge for one ascent and descent.

Your vacation in the Tannheim Valley starts with your arrival. Thanks to the free shuttle bus from Ulm, you can take the free shuttle bus from Ulm to the Tannheimer Tal every Saturday in the high season - both in summer and winter.
The free shuttle bus runs from the station forecourt in Ulm directly to the most beautiful high valley in Europe. Stow your luggage and, on presentation of a valid booking confirmation from your accommodation, the journey to the Tannheim Valley continues relaxed and free of charge.
Mit Wander- oder Schneechuhen durchs Winterwunderland
Es ist kein Wunder, dass auch im Winter das Wandern zu den beliebtesten Aktivitäten im Tannheimer Tal gehört. Das Angebot ist nämlich beachtlich: Insgesamt werden mehr als 80 Kilometer Winterwanderwege geräumt. Ausgerüstet mit gutem Schuhwerk, passender Kleidung und einer Kanne Tee im Rucksack könnt ihr auf abwechslungsreichen und bestens präparierten Routen durch die traumhafte Winterlandschaft spazieren.
Eine weitere sanfte Möglichkeit für aktiven Wintergenuss im Tannheimer Tal ist das Schneeschuhwandern. Wer schon einmal mit den Schneeschuhen durch frischen Schnee gestapft ist, weiß, wie gut sich das anfühlt. Ein Vorteil des Schneeschuhwanderns ist außerdem, dass man ohne große Vorkenntnisse gleich loslegen kann. Um die schönsten Ecken zu finden, macht ihr euch am besten mit einem ortskundigen Guide auf den Weg. Infos zu geführten Wanderungen erhält ihr beim Tourismusverband.

There is also plenty on offer for families in the Tannheim Valley. In addition to family-friendly ski areas, there are countless other activities for a change. Everyone agrees that an evening carriage ride through the wintry valley is a special experience. The youngest of our guests are looked after at Tanni's Kids' Club in a huge indoor playground. And if you still have energy left, you can let off steam on the ice rink or in the bouldering hall - sounds great, doesn't it?
