Whether you enter the Tannheimer Valley for the first time or visit it repeatedly throughout your life: a single glance is enough to understand why the travel writer Ludwig Steub once called it the "most beautiful high valley in Europe." Two characteristics contribute sustainably to this impressive effect, regardless of the time of day or year.
On the one hand, the valley runs along an east-west axis, which means that sunlight illuminates it from morning to evening and highlights the surrounding heights. The natural stage is therefore always well lit – even at night when the Milky Way shows itself in the sky.
