Pleasure hike around Speiden (Speiden - Unterreuten - Unterdolden - Speiden)
Arriving at the sports field, continue right on the roadway towards Unterreuten. In the village itself, follow signage turning right towards Unterdolden. Soon you will reach the idyllicly located Magnus Chapel, situated in the middle of the Unterreuten hamlet and setting a special accent with its quiet aura. Right next to it, the Magnushof invites to linger and enjoy with its picturesque location.
If you continue following the hiking route, you will repeatedly experience particularly charming path sections with wonderful views. The route passes over scenic hills of glacial origin, which still characterize the landscape of southern Ostallgäu today. It is worth taking a seat on one of the benches, pausing, and enjoying the vast Allgäu cultural landscape with all your senses – a very special highlight of this tour.
On well-maintained and usually cleared roads, the trail then leads over the hamlet of Unterdolden back to Speiden. There, the Sudhaus offers another wonderful opportunity to take a break and end the hike comfortably.
Author’s recommendation
During your winter hike, please be considerate of nature and the animals overwintering in it. Stay on the designated paths and respect wildlife protection areas and forest-wildlife conservation zones. These protected areas are important retreats for sensitive animal species in our landscape. Especially in winter, when wild animals live on the edge due to cold and lack of food, these resting areas help them save energy and survive the time of scarcity.

Safety information
Even seemingly snow-free paths in the Ostallgäu can be unexpectedly slippery or icy in winter – especially in shaded forest areas, on steep sections, near water bodies, and at higher elevations. Snow and ice residues as well as refreezing moisture pose special risks here. Please wear winter-proof clothing and sturdy footwear. Always check the conditions in advance and adapt your activities and equipment to the circumstances. Get information about the weather beforehand and keep in mind that days are shorter and temperatures can drop quickly from early afternoon hours. You should also never undertake a winter tour alone, even if it seems easy and harmless. Always leave your tour destination at your accommodation or at home and keep your smartphone turned on so your location can be tracked in an emergency. The local tourist information will gladly advise you on the current conditions. This way you are well prepared for the changing winter conditions and can safely enjoy your experience.

Equipment
In addition to weatherproof and winter-suitable clothing in layers, you should be safely equipped with well-broken-in, high hiking boots with a strongly profiled sole.In winter, paths or path sections can be snow-covered, frozen, and/or icy at any time due to weather conditions. This may require additional equipment such as hiking poles, gaiters, and crampons (very light ice spikes) to walk the path. Occasionally, paths or path sections might be impassable because it is too icy, there is too much snow, or snow removal vehicles are still busy clearing the most urgent streets and places. Please consider this, be understanding, and assess the situation directly on site.
Take enough warm tea to drink with you. A healthy fruit snack or a small picnic also tastes especially good on the way. If needed, also think of sun protection. If you happen to find yourself in the dark, a flashlight or headlamp will be very helpful.
