This trail leads through the picturesque Bider area. From Saas-Fee across the valley floor, it goes in a zigzag to the Grächen high path and then gently downhill back to Saas-Fee.

The trail starts at the Postrondell in Saas-Fee and begins immediately with the descent via the historic chapel path down to the valley floor at Saas-Grund. Arriving at the Saaser Vispa, follow the stream downstream past the village of Saas-Grund until you reach the hamlet of Bidermatten. Behind the hamlet, the ascent begins on the hiking trail. Above the tree line, you pass the stone houses of Stafelalp and soon reach the Grächen high path. On this section, you have a good view of Fletschhorn, Laggin, and Weissmies as well as the mountain world of Saas-Almagell. Besides alpine meadows, you pass several streams and waterfalls that also mark the highest point of the path.

From here, it goes downhill to the larch forest. Via Senggbodu and Bärafalla, you reach the glacier village Saas-Fee again.

    Author’s recommendation

    • From the Bärafalla, you can also reach Saas-Fee via the Mälchbodo and thus extend the route.

    Safety information

Use of the hiking trails and information on this website is at your own risk. Conditions on site may lead to changes in the route.
    • Use only marked trail paths and observe all signposts and instructions - for your own safety, to protect grazing animals, and out of respect for wildlife. Close gates after passing.
    • Be considerate towards other trail users, plants, and animals.
    • Take additional sunscreen with you. UV rays at high altitudes can be very strong, even in cloudy weather.
    • Plan your trail carefully: consider the required fitness level of all participants, weather forecasts, and seasonal dependencies.
    • Weather conditions in the mountains can change very quickly and without warning. Appropriate clothing and provisions (food and drink) are very important. If the weather is unstable, better turn back early.
    • Inform third parties about your trail route and if possible, do not go alone.
    • Observe warning signs indicating dangers at riverbanks, along watercourses below dams and reservoirs: water levels can rise quickly and without warning.
