The 4.2 km Uittomies Trail runs through pine forest and open mire landscapes. The route consists mostly of easy forest paths and boardwalks, with a lean‑to shelter, campfire site and birdwatching platforms along the way.
Halfway along the route, you will find a lean‑to shelter, a campfire site and a viewing platform. Firewood is usually available at the shelter. Please handle fire with care and observe any forest‑fire warnings. Take all your rubbish with you.
Towards the end of the route, by the lakeshore, there is a second viewing platform, and several benches are placed along the path for resting.
Uittomies Trail was completed in 2020 with funding from Leader Aisapari and the Municipality of Evijärvi. Much of the work was completed by volunteers – in total, more than 540 hours of volunteer effort.
The area is accessible under everyman’s rights.
Author’s recommendation
The two lean‑tos by the river are freely available for hikers. There are also exercise devices designed for practising traditional log‑driver skills.

Safety information
Near the lean‑to shelter there is a marked extinguishing water pit, and the bucket at the shelter serves as fire‑safety equipment. You can drive by car fairly close to the shelter, and an ATV can reach the shelter directly.In winter, the boardwalk sections may be slippery—proceed with caution.

Soon, the trail continues onto boardwalks that lead across the mire. From the boardwalks, you can enjoy views over the open bog and wetland areas. Halfway along the route, you reach the lean‑to shelter, campfire site and viewing platform—an ideal place to rest and observe nature.
From the shelter, the trail continues along a forest path back towards the lakeshore. The final section includes a short wood‑chip path. By the lake, you will find another viewing platform overlooking Jokisuunlahti.
The route then returns to the starting point at the end of Uittomies Road. Several benches along the way provide opportunities to rest.
