Logs brought from the Suomenselkä drainage divide were tied into rafts in Evijärvi and taken to sawmills located by the sea. A traditional log drivers’ cabin has been built in Jokisuunlahti, and the area also houses a sauna and a log driving practice area. Running through the centre of Evijärvi, the route offers a range of services. A salmon fishing pond and an open fire site stocked with firewood are located next to Kirsilä Beach.
Along the route, you can climb a bird tower in the valuable Valmosanneva bog and admire views over Jokisuunlahti and Evijärvi. Known for its rich birdlife, the area is the only place in Finland where the black tern nests.
