Kneipp Nature Trail Bad Bergzabern
6.4 km Kneipp nature trail
approx. 2 hours walking time
Kneipp stations: 1 medicinal herb garden, 2 water treading, 3 movement, 4 healthy nutrition, 5 retreat
Take two hours and join the Kneipp nature trail. Initiated by the local Kneipp association, this 6.4 km circular route leads you not only to wonderful views over and within Bad Bergzabern but also to the core principles of Kneipp's natural medicine. The starting point is the entrance to the spa park at Sebastian-Kneipp-Platz. The five health pillars briefly introduce you to the principles of Kneipp's natural therapy. In the spa park, the path takes you to the fragrant Mediterranean herb garden, then to the water treading basin in the park, and to the "Movement" health station on the lawn between the Schwanenweiher and the Pfälzer Wald hotel. Before climbing the Martin Path, warm up with stretching exercises in Jakobsgärtel (alternative route: Liebfrauenbergstraße to just before the quarry, then right onto the Martin Path). On the Martin Path and Altenberg Path, test your fitness on the horizontal ladder and the jumping and balancing beam. After a short cool down, continue to the "Nutrition" station, an orchard meadow with fruit trees and berry bushes. Via Daniel-Pistor-, Herzog-Wolfgang- and Königstraße, return to the town center to the 5th station at Martin Church with the Edith-Stein monument at Ludwigsplatz, dedicated to "Healthy Lifestyle" through reflection and inner retreat. The circular route ends back at the spa park.

Safety information
General information:
Especially in autumn, be aware that fallen leaves can hide uneven areas, roots, stones, or holes in the path. After thunderstorms or rainstorms, trees can still fall or branches may break off. Particularly under adverse weather conditions, natural paths may have muddy and slippery sections. Not all rocks or ravines are secured with ropes or railings. Sure-footedness is necessary in some areas. Expect such path impairments during your hike. If you think certain sections are impassable for you, you should avoid them.
NOTE:
We strive to announce all closures due to forestry work or hunting associations on this platform. Nevertheless, there are situations where trails are closed, and we may not have been informed. If you encounter a path closure or detour unexpectedly, please follow the instructions for your safety.

Roadbook
The starting point is at the eastern entrance of the spa park, between the thermal bath and the House of the Guest. There you will find the 5 Kneipp health pillars with brief notes. From here, we follow the signs towards the herb garden and further to the Kneipp water treading basin in the spa park. Then physical activity is on the agenda, as the next health station "Movement" is located on the lawn in front of the "Pfälzer Wald" hotel.
Before we climb up to the Martin Path, we warm up in the Jakobsgärtel with stretching exercises. (Alternative route: along Liebfrauenbergstraße up to the quarry, then continue to the right on the Martin Path)
On the Martin Path and the Altenberg Path, we test and increase our fitness on the jumping and balancing beam as well as on the horizontal ladder.
Afterwards, we allow ourselves to cool down before we reach the "Nutrition" station on Liebfrauenbergweg, an orchard meadow with fruit trees and berry bushes.
Back to the town center, passing the Hitziger winery via Daniel-Pistor-, Herzog Wolfgang- and Königstraße to one of the two churches, the Market Church or the Martin Church, to the next Kneipp station. This is dedicated to "Healthy Lifestyle" through inner reflection and contemplation. The Kneipp nature trail ends at the thermal bath.
