In Királyrét, passing through nine stations, you can get to know the wildlife of the forest and lakes, the history of narrow-gauge railways and iron mining.
Királyrét is a popular place among hikers, and there is a little corner that will certainly become a big favorite for the children as well. The Királyrét Forest School of the Danube-Ipoly National Park Directorate has so far mainly hosted school and kindergarten groups, but now they have also created a visitor center. At the exhibition, hikers – both young and old – can get acquainted with the history of Börzsöny, its flora, and fauna through enjoyable tasks. The exhibition is not just words; here, people really dive into solving playful tasks with great enthusiasm.

A tick remover spoon always comes in handy: even when walking on well-maintained nature trails, an unwanted bloodsucker may appear now and then.Tips and suggestions
The nature trail booklet is available at the Visitor Center and at the DINPI Green Shop (Bp. XII., Költő street 21). It is a booklet with drawings for children and a more extensive text version.
PUZZLE:
There is a question at every station in the booklet.
The answers are hidden in the secret writing on the station posts, which can be solved with the code-cracking grid at the back of the booklet.

Roadbook
We can continue getting to know the animals and plants outdoors as well; this is where the 2900-meter-long Királyrét nature trail starts, where the little frog girl, Bori Frog, guides the children. At the visitor center, you can get the guidebook, which is available in versions for both adults and children. On the nature trail, we can get acquainted with the wildlife of deciduous forests and coniferous forests, as well as the history of Börzsöny and Királyrét. One of the most exciting points of the hike is Bajdazó Lake, where numerous interesting arthropods live, such as water scorpions, diving beetles, or whirligig beetles. If the weather is good, groups of marsh turtles sunbathe on trees fallen into the water. The first specimens were introduced into the lake in the 1980s, but now their descendants have populated the standing water and form the highest-altitude marsh turtle population in our country.
