The bee educational route in Freckenfeld vividly presents the life and benefits of bees. It starts at the playground in Wattstraße and runs along the Dorfbach to Sportplatzweg.
The easy-to-walk path runs about 500 m straight along the Dorfbach. Nine information boards, set up at a height of 160 cm so they can be easily read by schoolchildren, inform about the life and benefits of bees.
The path is lined with perennial beds planted with over 600 bee-friendly perennials, including yellow scabious, spur flower, Frikart’s aster, blood cranesbill, fireweed, soapwort, yarrow, dyer’s chamomile, and cluster catnip.
Perennial sponsors take care of the beds; the information boards were donated by the Beekeeping Association Kandel e.V.
Along the Dorfbach there are some seating areas inviting you to a peaceful rest.

- Be considerate – Always behave thoughtfully, kindly, and considerately towards everyone you meet on the way. This is especially true on agricultural roads where vintners, farmers and foresters also work on weekends.
- Picnic & trash – Remember a trash bag for the way and take your rubbish back home. Use furnished rest areas exclusively for breaks and picnics.
- Nature conservation – Stay on designated paths and avoid unnecessary noise when you are in nature.
- Leash dogs – Please keep your dog on a leash at all times. Other visitors and animals will thank you.

Author’s recommendation
A small footpath leads from Dorfbachweg to the Freckenfeld village shop. Here you can take a break in the pretty café or in the shady spot at the village fountain.

Safety information
Hiking on natural paths and trails – Especially in autumn, be aware that fallen leaves on the ground can hide unevenness, roots, stones or holes in the path. After thunderstorms or heavy rain, trees may still fall or branches may drop even afterwards. Particularly in adverse weather conditions, natural paths can be muddy and slippery.
Danger situations – If an emergency occurs, quick help is needed. And even though mobile phones can send GPS signals, the classic rescue points often are the fastest way. These are located at places that are well accessible to rescue vehicles. Remember the points with green signs and a white cross. In an emergency, return there and give the number on the sign when you call for help. That way, rescue workers will know where to find you.

Please only park in the designated parking spaces and always keep access routes for emergency vehicles as well as work paths in the forest and vineyards clear. For overnight stays in campers & caravans, there are explicitly designated motorhome parking spots.
