Feldpannalm round | nock/art route 2
The starting point of the Feldpannalm round is easily reached by the Kaiserburgbahn. The path leads from the gentle ridge past the summit of Wöllaner Nock down to the green pastures of Feldpannalm. After a rest at an alpine hut, the route follows the Feldpannbach back to the starting point. The route can also be walked in the other direction.
An alpine pasture hike starting in high alpine terrain is offered by the Feldpannalm round. This is made possible by the "ascent" with the Kaiserburgbahn at 2,039 meters above sea level. From there, it goes down to the extensive alpine pastures at about 1,500 meters. After a rustic hut break (Rieserhütte), the ascending path leads back to the starting point.
Special features of the route:
- Alpine pasture hike from above
- Summit experience (Wöllaner Nock)
- Hike along a ridge
- Alpine atmosphere (pastures, driven cattle)
- Alpine huts (gastronomy)
- Varied landscape (ridge, forest, pastures)
- Comfortable mountain ride with Kaiserburgbahn
- Alpine experience without a long ascent

The 12 most important rules for behavior in the mountains
1. Every route should be carefully planned! What is the route? Where are huts? How far are distances?
2. Inform yourself about the weather forecast!
3. Equipment must fit: good footwear, a weatherproof backpack, sun protection, warm and windproof clothing, enough drinks and food as well as a small first aid kit, hiking map, and a mobile phone are important.
4. Inform the landlord or acquaintances about where you are going and also when you expect to be back. In an emergency, it can also help to sign in the hut or summit books.
5. Plan every mountain or mountain bike tour according to your personal fitness. If children are with you, adapt to their fitness.
6. Avoid going too fast! The pace should be adapted to the weakest member in the group. Take regular breaks.
7. Do not leave marked trails.
8. Be careful. Do not dislodge stones that might endanger other mountain hikers. In rocky terrain, animals like chamois often cause rockfalls.
9. If there is a threat of a thunderstorm, turn back in time. If you do get caught in a thunderstorm, stay away from solitary trees, do not remain on summits or ridges, and move into hollows or valleys. Protection during thunderstorms in the mountains is only provided by secure shelter.
10. In an emergency, stay calm. Get help by mobile phone, calling out, or waving with larger clothing pieces. Do not leave injured persons alone and try to move them out of danger zones.
11. Dogs must always be on a leash!
12. Please keep the mountains clean and take your waste with you!

Roadbook
We reach the starting point of the hike with the Kaiserburgbahn, which takes passengers from the village center directly to the rugged rocks of the Kaiserburg summit. The mountain station, designed by architect Hubert Prachensky, is located at 2,039 meters above sea level and will accompany us as a clearly visible point of orientation on our way to the 2,145-meter high Wöllaner Nock.
From the summit, we enjoy the panoramic view before our path gently descends along the ridge towards Kleiner Nock (2,000 m). After another 650 meters, the trail turns west and guides our steps down into the Feldpannalm area. Soon we leave behind the barren landscape shaped by mountain meadows and blueberries and enter a mountain forest.
The initially scattered larches are soon replaced by a dense spruce-larch forest. Once in the basin, the first pasture areas announce the Feldpannalm. The Rieserhütte (slightly off the route) is a good spot for a rest.
If you follow the Feldpannbach along the Quellenweg downhill from here, you arrive directly at Feld am See. However, we walk upstream through an idyllic alpine landscape, past huts (not managed), pastures, and the characteristic fences. The higher we now climb the opposite slope, the scarcer the vegetation becomes again. The final section again leads us along a ridge back to the Kaiserburg.
The route can also be walked in the opposite direction.
