Roadbook
The botanical path begins at the Orožnova hut. Already nearby, every year we equip it with signs of some of the most characteristic plants for visitors who cannot continue towards Črna prst. Hikers who continue the ascent can see the entire path, ending at a large rock at an altitude of approximately 1550 m, before the steepest part of the climb to the mountain begins. Most of the signs are placed on the left (upper) side of the path, when viewed uphill. They are best seen during the ascent, as the pace is slower. Some attention is needed not to miss too many signs. It is difficult to overlook larger and flamboyant beauties such as Turk's lily (Lilium martagon), yellow gentians of Bratina and Vardjan (Gentiana lutea subsp. symphyandra, G. lutea subsp. vardijanii), but we are especially fond of inconspicuous and less known plants such as the common twisted-stalk (Streptopus amplexifolius), green helleborine (Coeloglossum viride), or wedge-leaved saxifrage (Saxifraga cuneifolia).
At the end, on the back side of the rock, the famous Zois bellflower (Campanula zoysii) hides. Of course, the flowers do not end there; there is much more to see up to the top of Črna prst, but marking everything would be too big a task. The flowering is usually most abundant in July, depending on the amount of snow that falls during the winter.
