With the help of the barrier-free pedestrian guidance system, guests and residents with physical disabilities can find their way around the town center of Maikammer as barrier-free as possible.
The quaint Cittaslow community of Maikammer is increasingly attracting visitors with its numerous barrier-free options. From wheelchair-accessible hiking trails through the vineyards and the town, like this small route, to barrier-free facilities in historic buildings, there is much to discover here. Maikammer also offers people with limited mobility the chance to enjoy the town without obstacles.
The barrier-free pedestrian guidance system in Maikammer was funded by the European Union from the European Regional Development Fund and the state of Rhineland-Palatinate. The guidance system is based on the guidelines "Barrier-free tourist pedestrian guidance systems in RLP" from the Ministry of Economic Affairs.
This also ensures one of the guiding principles of "Cittaslow," the improvement of the quality of stay for our guests.

The short barrier-free circular route through the town center of Maikammer starts at the parking deck on Johannes-Damm-Straße, where two designated disabled parking spaces are available. Upon leaving the parking lot, we follow the street Frantzplatz on the right towards the town center. From there, it is about 150 m to Marktstraße, where we turn left. After a few meters, on the right side is the tourist information certified barrier-free at Level II. A little further on, we reach the newly designed marketplace, which invites you to linger. After a short break, we return to the tourist information. There we turn right and can enjoy a glass of wine in the barrier-free certified local wine shop "Weinkammer." Then we follow the path towards the lavender garden and can admire the Schoppendenkmal. At the Schoppendenkmal, we continue straight ahead until the path turns right again towards the parking deck.
