The Pfälzer Schoppen, the "measure of all things", carved in stone and eternalised as a monument, that only exists in Maikammer.
Almost 30 years ago, the gastronomy tried to reduce the size of the Schoppen from 0.5 l to 0.4 l, which was vehemently opposed by a delegation of citizens together with the wine fraternity. As a result of this open resistance, the gastronomy was finally forced to give up and the monument was carved in stone by the sculptor Berlejung from Ludwigshafen and erected in Maikammer on the market square. In 1984, it was inaugurated with dignity in the presence of the then prime minister of Rhineland-Palatinate, Bernhard Vogel.
